Celeste Grace, DVM

DVM - 1990, Cornell University

Internship (Equine Surgery) - 1991, New Bolton Center, University of Pennsylvania

Dr. Grace was born in Colorado, but spent most of her life on the east coast until finally making her way back to the mountains of the Pacific Northwest in 2011. After graduating from Cornell University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 1990, she completed an internship in equine surgery at the New Bolton Center at University of Pennsylvania. She spent the following 20 years primarily working in private equine practice, but too a two year hiatus to teach at Cornell’s veterinary school. Family brought her to Sandpoint, where she started Sandpoint Equine, which has now merged and become S.A.V.E. L.L.C.

She has participating in and currently heads one of the large animal teams for Project Samana, a non-profit group of veterinarians that travels to the Dominican Republic three times a year to treat underserved animals at no-cost to the owners. When not at work, you can usually find her in the mountains - trail-running, skiing, biking, or whatever gets her outdoors. As an avid knitter, hand spinner, and weaver, she particularly like to treat the alpacas and sheep that call North Idaho home.

Jenni Grimmett, DVM

DVM - 2002, Washington State University

Internship (Theriogenology, LA) - 2003, Washington State University

Dr. Grimmett is a homegrown North Idaho gal and grew up as an active participant in Kootenai County’s 4-H program and has been a life-long horse crazy kid. After completing her internship in large animal theriogenology at Washington State University, Dr. Grimmett decided to return to her roots and embark on a career in rural veterinary medicine. After short stints working with other practices, she made the plunge to start Triton Veterinary Service in 2004 (named for her Morgan horse, Triton King Cory).

Mounted on a Morgan horse from the very beginning of her horse career, Dr. Grimmett has remained dedicated to that breed, enjoying every opportunity and discipline available until finally settling on Cowboy Dressage in 2011. Dr. Grimmett is a recognized Cowboy Dressage professional and has been teaching CD at her Lucky Duck Ranch with her husband, Dan Grimmett, on her weekends off since 2015.

She is the co-author of the book, Dressage the Cowboy Way, and was featured on the series - ‘On the Road with Doc Jenni’ - produced by Spalding Fly Predators. Dr. Grimmett also carves out time to train and show her Morgan geldings.


 

Katelyn Jaqueway, DVM

DVM - 2020, Lincoln Memorial University

Internship (Ambulatory Equine) - 2020, Peterson & Smith Equine Hospital

Internship (Hospital) - 2021, Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital, Saratoga

Dr. Jaqueway grew up in Schoharie, NY. She started riding horses when she was 8 years old. She showed shropshire sheep in 4H and FFA. Upon entering middle school she began to compete in Horse quiz bowl and Hippology. She competed at the National 4H Eastern States Round Up in 2012 for Horse Quiz Bowl. She attended Murray State University in Murray, KY for undergrad and competed on the IHSA Stock Team. While at Lincoln Memorial University College of Veterinary Medicine in Harrogate, TN, she was an active member of AABP, AAEP and AVMA. Dr. Jaqueway has also completed large animal emergency rescue training while at school.

When not working, you can find her outdoors enjoying the mountains. She also has interests in baking, cooking and photography.

Carolyn Frank

Office Manager (since 2021)

Veterinary Assistant (since 2006)

A born and raised Sandpoint native, Carolyn has owned animals her whole life. She completed 10 years of 4-H and graduated from SHS in 2009. Her husband, Coleman, and she have a cute little boy, Henry, and darling daughter, Josie. Both she and Coleman, her husband, are very involved in their church. Carolyn has worked as Dr. Grimmett’s right-hand-woman since 2006. In the summer of 2021, she elected take over as office manager and help coordinate our veterinarians. When not at work, you’ll find her riding her home-grown draft-cross mare, Rita, in the mountains and exploring this great state.


Licensed Veterinary Technicians:

Suzie Kretzschmar, LVT

Licensed Veterinary Technician (since 2012)

Suzie is one of our valued veterinary technicians. Growing up in England she moved to the USA 15 years ago, and graduated as a licensed technician in 2012, in Athens Georgia. She loves all animals big and small, wild and domestic. Suzie spends her spare time gardening, camping, wild crafting, and going on adventures and travels with her husband, Dave. Her favorite time of the year is springtime, and she especially loves helping with all the births that we see at that time.

Kasondra Dean, LVT

Licensed Veterinary Technician (since 2021)

Veterinary Assistant (since 2013)

A local North Idaho girl, Kasondra was very obsessed with animals since she was little. She participated in the 4-H programs in Kootenai and Bonner counties, completing projects in dog, horse, swine, and goat programs. Through Penn Foster, she has completed her Veterinary Technician course in 2020 and passed her licensing boards in spring 2021.

During the spring and summer months, she works with her family at their greenhouses (Van Wingerden Greenhouses). When not working or helping out there, she spends time with her husband, Cody, or you can find her riding her horse, Boone, or hiking with their dogs, Luke and Willy.


Veterinary Assistants:

Miranda Dodge

Veterinary Assistant (since 2021)

Many of you may recognize Miranda, as she was born and raised right here in Bonner County. She grew up on a family farm and has experience with a wide array of farm animals. Miranda is joining us as of winter 2021. She is very excited to be starting a career that allows her to be outdoors doing what she is passionate about.

When not working out of one of the SAVE trucks, she spends her time painting, competing with her horse (Peter), as well as spending time with her husband (Matt), family, and friends while enjoying all that North Idaho has to offer.


Lisa LaRoe

Veterinary Assistant (since 2023)

Born and raised in the PNW, Lisa and her family moved to our beautiful Sandpoint area in the summer of 2021. She graduated OSU in 2007 with an Animal Science Degree, specialty option Equine Science. While at the University, she worked for various large and small animal Veterinary Clinics as a veterinary assistant. Lisa married her husband Eugene in 2007, and has two kiddos, Mattie and Carson. She has 20years of experience training horses in western disciplines.

She also has successfully competed in team roping, barrel racing, gymkhana, drill team, cutting, sorting , and extreme trail. when Lisa is not at work you will find her with her horses or exploring N. Idaho with her family.
